Bethany Jordan (Gladu)

Birth Date: 1969-12-17
Deceased Date: 2022-01-11
Obituary:
Bethany Jordan, born December 17, 1969 in Boothbay, Maine, died January 11, 2022. .

Bethany was a strong Christian woman who was dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and more. She was definitely one you wanted in your corner she would do anything she could for anyone in need. She was very resourceful to say the least.

Not only is she survived by her husband, Larry Jordan, but also by her son, Christopher, daughter Lindzee, daughter Krystal, son Walter, son Cheyenne, daughter Dakota and 8 grandchildren Jaden, Madison, Tripp, Damien, Riley, Zelda, Kali, and Marley and her niece, Nicole.

Bethany was the youngest of two, born to a teacher and all-around hard-working father, and a hardworking book keeping mother. She is survived by father Joeseph and brother Mike. She was preceded in death by her mother Rosa “Frosti” of Yarmouth, Maine.

She enjoyed reminiscing about anything that involved her greatest love family. Anyone that knew her knew that when given the chance she would throw in a comment about one of her children or even more likely a grandchild. She was a real pushover when it came to any of her grandchildren, or anyone in need. She was always one you could call when you were having a bad day and just needed to get something off your plate. She was quick to tell you how much she hated the phone, knowing that she wasn’t going to leave you hanging. It was her sneaky way of getting you to come see her. She definitely had the answers to most any problem and knew the way to get an issue taken care of one way or another. Bethany “Mom” will be greatly missed but, this isn’t good-bye its see you later!

Denasha Veeney - January 9th, 2010

This is my aunt.  I used to live with her for as long as I could remember but I love this woman with all my heart.  She was my everything.  I could go to her and tell her anything and everything.  She spoiled me to death and then she got really sick with MS and then that meant it would have to be my turn to help her and that is just what I did.  It was just so wonderful to that point that I would just love to come home from school and just see her and talk her to death, as she would say.  lol Until one night my mom said, Denasha get your stuff together to go to Grandmas because auntie needs to go to the hospital.  I was so upset that I didnt get to see her before she left and then days and days went by and I asked my mom over and over could I go see her but she kept saying I was not allowed to go to the hospital. Then it finally got me she had soon passed away at the hospital and I was so sad, I cried like every night and the one person that hurt the most out of all of it was her only daughter which was really hard and sad for her.  But I know now that she is in a better place and she is in no more pain and I will always love her with all my heart.  :)

Arthur "Mr. C" Coughlin, Jr.

Birth Date: 1937-08-27
Deceased Date: 2011-03-12
Obituary:
Arthur Charles Coughlin, Jr. (73) of Stevensville died March 12, 2011 at his home in Stevensville, MD.

Art "Ozzie" Coughlin, Jr. was the son of the late Doris Lilly and Arthur Coughlin, Sr. of Baltimore MD, and the stepson of the late Arthur Huston of Parkersburg WV. He was born August 27th, 1937 in Baltimore MD and, after the death of his father in WWII, relocated to Parkersburg WV. He joined the Navy after graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1956, and received an honorable discharge in 1960. Art received a dual degree in English and Psychology from Glenville State College in May 1965 and obtained his Master's Degree from Loyola College of Maryland. When dating his future wife, Sue Ellen Garrett, he was rumored to have ripped a pay phone entirely off a building when she forgot to wave goodbye to him from her dorm window. His personality and flare for the dramatic won her over, but she spent the remainder of her life trying to keep him in line. Sadly she predeceased him on March 21, 2004.

Arthur Coughlin, Jr and Sue Ellen Garrett were married on May 25, 1963 in Parkersburg, WV. After graduating from college, Art taught at Edison Jr. High School in West Va., and worked odd jobs at Ford’s Jewelers and as a laborer for Ruscoe Windows, before relocating to Stevensville MD in 1979. Known as "Mr. C", Arthur was hired by the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education and taught English and History at the Kennard Annex, Queen Anne's County High School and the Queen Anne’s County Alternative school for 26 years, retiring in 2006. He was a Student Advisor for the Drama Club, Women's Basketball, and JV football, and gained a following of devoted students who enjoyed his inappropriate humor and sincere love of education. "Mr. C" was usually the first to open up the school and the last to turn in his report card grades. He never found a love for technology, but reveled in antiques and military collectibles.

Art's interests included traveling, reading, all things West Virginia, chatting to random strangers, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Teaching brought a special joy to his life, and he enjoyed the challenges that each student brought to the classroom. He could somehow find a common bond with anyone who crossed his path, and made true and loyal friends along the way. He will be greatly missed throughout the county, by both his students and fellow educators.

Surviving are his son, Michael (Valerie) of Federalsburg; two daughters, Stephanie (Matt) Stapleton of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Melissa (Harry) Oldfield of Bowie; five grandsons, Jonathan, Michael James and Benjamin Coughlin; Matthew and Alex Stapleton; two granddaughters, Catherine and Elizabeth Oldfield; his brother, Donald Huston; and three sisters, Virginia (Dan) Gallagher, Mary Jane (Carl) Pate of Parkersburg, and Joanie (James) Tomko of Aurora. In addition, he will be sadly missed by his beloved companion of three years, Dolores Townsend of Parkersburg WV; his best friend Jack Stewart of Parkersburg WV; two sisters-in-law, Patsy (Bill) Dawson of Celina, OH and Melba (Max) Marks of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11AM, Saturday, March 19, 2011 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, Chester, MD. Friends and family may call Friday March 18, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., 106 Shamrock Road Chester, MD 21619.

Obituary:
ST. MICHAELS — Danielle Ada Meredith Collins, affectionately known as “Big Dan,” surprised her family with her arrival on March 26, 1970, to the late Sharon P. Meredith-Johnson and Robert Johnson in Chester, Md. This is how she got her other name, “Angel.” On Aug. 21, 2018, she answered God’s call and entered eternal rest.
Angel was reared in the Kingstown neighborhood of Kent Island. She was educated in Queen Anne’s County School system and graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1988. She attended Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del.
She began her Christian journey at New United Methodist, formerly known as Union Wesley United Methodist Church. Her love for the children she “mothered” is unending. She went to the utmost extreme for birthdays, weddings, Super Bowl parties, Sunday dinners and summer barbecues in the backyard. Her parties were a thing of legend. From petting zoos with live animals to bounce houses the size of a mansion to her annual Easter egg hunts, Angel truly loved the kids.
Danielle married her beloved husband of 11 years, Antonio William Collins, on April 21, 2007.
Over the years, Angel faced many trials and tribulations, but she never lost her faith in God or her “sunny” disposition. All who came in contact with Danielle grew to love her. Danielle attended church whenever her health allowed and always did what she could to comfort anyone in need.
Danielle was a loving wife, devoted mother, wonderful sister, generous aunt, proud godmother and fantastic friend to all.
In addition to her mother, Sharon Meredith-Johnson, and father, Robert Johnson, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lucy Roberts Meredith; grandfather, Maurice Meredith; beloved brother-cousin, Kevin Meredith; and her daughter, Heaven Makayla Antonia Collins.

Elise Soroka

Deceased Date: 2014-08-04
Obituary:
Elise Soroka, artist and illustrator, died on August 4, 2014, at age 44 in Baltimore, MD, due to complications after a liver transplant. Under the moniker of Pocketskeleton Labs, Elise produced paintings, sculpture, mixed-media artwork, and illustrations for books, magazines, and online media. A 1993 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts, Elise left a collection of work spanning the past 30 years.

Rather than organizing a traditional funeral service, we will instead be holding a memorial art gallery show for Elise, celebrating her artwork, much of which was unseen by all but a few people. Family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew Elise are invited to attend this gathering to view her art and remember her life. Please feel free to invite others to this event.

Light refreshments will be served.

Please note that Studio 1469 is an alley dwelling at 1469 Harvard St. NW REAR, which is accessed from the alleyway entrance on 15th St. NW. (Please do NOT go to 1469 Harvard St., it is NOT affiliated with the gallery!)

If you have artwork of Elise's in your collection, we would very much like to display it at this show. Please contact Kelly DeYoe for details.

It is our hope to produce a digital catalog of Elise's artwork after this show, and a printed catalog may be produced as well.

Donations to cover expenses related to producing the gallery show, catalog, and a marker for Elise's grave will be accepted at the show. Anyone unable to attend who wishes to make a donation should please contact Kelly DeYoe.
